In 1999 video recordings were made of the statements issued under pressure at the Security Department by Adnan Oktar and the members of BAV (Science Research Foundation). Department officials constantly repeated the words to be used in these statements, and made the defendants learn them by heart. These video images, proved many times to have been taken under threat of death, are concrete evidence of the illegal measures taken at the Security Department, and are inadmissible in court. It is in any case impossible for anyone speaking of his own free will, in the absence of any concrete evidence against him, to spontaneously invent imaginary scenarios, to make the most unbelievable allegations against himself in the most offensive, slang-ridden language, to insult and slander himself, and say that he is the leader of a criminal enterprise. Can anyone make such claims, devoid of any evidence that might lead to charges under any article of the Criminal Code and to a heavy prison sentence, against himself in such illogical words that fly in the face of all the evidence? Far from being legitimate statements, these are the screams, proof and documents of torture. Anyone who ended up there under those conditions would have behaved in exactly the same way. Nobody in Turkey could possibly withstand such threats, pressure and violence. Could anyone anywhere stand up to such torture and intimidation? But when someone goes to the Prosecutor’s Office and immediately states, in the presence of a judge, that the statements he gave at the Security Department were untrue, then this is evidence of torture. It is a disgrace, a sin and a violation of conscience to say in the face of this “So what? You signed the statement. Since you signed it, we will use it right to the bitter end.”
The video tapes of the questioning were given, as part of thePSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE CAMPAIGN and in violation of the legal procedures, to various press organs even while the investigation was still continuing and under the control of the DGM. They were then published all over Turkey. The exponents of psychological warfare imagined that by having these tapes published they were engaging in highly efficacious propaganda against Adnan Oktar and other innocent people. But they were actually humiliating and belittling themselves. The fact that they engaged in such ugly activities for so many years, in such an ugly state of excitement, has branded them as criminals.
The case in question is still continuing. Adnan Oktar and BAV (Science Research Foundation) members have been acquitted of all the allegations in question. As part of the psychological warfare campaign, reports were broadcast on hundreds of TV channels in order to raise suspicions in the public mind and to portray innocent people as all guilty of various crimes. These broadcasts have all been antipathetic to Adnan Oktar and hisfriends, but have still resulted in his being ever more popular, esteemed and appreciated.
